Did Ben Bernanke get any sleep?

We wonder if Ben Bernanke got any sleep last night. Though Mr Bernanke has had an illustrious career to date, no one can be in any doubt that today will be the most important day of his life. The markets and indeed the world wait with baited breath to hear from Mr Bernanke.

Hyperbole? We don’t think so. Starting out as chairman of the Fed is no usual day job, this is a position that can make or break the lives and jobs of billions of people across the world. Certainly, this is no job to aspire to if you’re faint hearted.

So why is this day any more special than each Fed announcement? Well for the next five, ten or fifteen years that Mr Bernanke runs the show, this will be the reference point for the future, From Mr Bernankes decision today, trillions of dollars across the globe will be affected for a long time to come, every time he raises an eyebrow or breaks a near smile it will be seen as a ‘sign’.

So Mr Bernanke we do hope you had at least a few winks of sleep.
