Hey corporate dude – buy a Mac!
We were quite stunned this morning that according to the BBC leading security firm Sophos has suggested that the best way for a corporation to reduce its exposure to nasty viruses and other forms of malware, is to start using Macs.
In a report Sophos security reported that the top 10 most commonly found sources threatening and malicious software were all found on and targeted at Windows machines. It claimed that none of these malicious programmes where targeting or turning up on Apples Mac OS X operating system.
According to the BBC’s news site -an analyst told the BBC News website that the reason why there are fewer viruses and worms on Mac systems is that the smaller user base makes them a less attractive target for hackers.
Graham Cluley of Sophos was quoted as saying that – It seems likely that Macs will continue to be the safer place for computer users for some time to come.
The reports are based on a Sophos report that initially recommended home users should switch to Mac ‘ Malware statistics suggest it is time for home users to switch to Macs’ though the same insight could also be applied for office work as well.
